Today I set my alarm for 8:30 and after a harsh fight between my mind and body (which lasted at least 15 minutes), I rolled out of bed and right into my sneakers. I quickly brushed my teeth (the last thing I needed was nasty morning mouth to hold me back) and stepped out my front door. As a last psych-up for the near future I sit on my front steps to wait for my Garmin to catch some satellite rays-and I'm off.
My goal was a 35 minute jog. I came a little short-but in the process I ran two miles in a little over 26 minutes. This is the first time I've been able to keep up a pace like that for over a mile. So, I'm happy. =]
On another note, I almost got hit by a taxi. Okay, so I'm being completely dramatic. I didn't have to jump to the side, nor did I feel the brush of death, but "Dodging Cars" is no joke. If I had stretched out my elbow the cab would have taken it off! And it's not like it had to stay as close to me as possible-there was no one coming in the opposite direction. I think the cab company got wind of my blog and decided to make a game out of it.
One of the reasons morning is the best time to run is because then I don't have to spend the majority of my day dreading it. Also, it's cooler in the morning. Although, this morning, the breeze was pleasant on the way out, the way home got a little toasty and the breeze disappeared.
31:03 minutes. 2.29 miles.
